Lots of natural beauty, animals, birds, and scarlet macaws. These are just some of what you will find at Buraco das Araras in Bonito.
This tour takes you to the largest dolina in South America, a geological formation that simply leaves all visitors jaw-dropping. In this huge crater, you can watch and marvel at more than 100 scarlet macaws flying back and forth.
The most interesting thing is that Buraco das Araras is not limited to the scarlet macaw, as it also has many other birds, such as udu, murucututu, golden woodpecker, red-tailed hawk, red-crowned grosbeak, red kite, quero-quero, turtledove, and suindara. In fact, this is one of the reasons that attract so many scholars and tourists to the site.
The dolina is more than 100 meters deep, 160 meters in diameter, and 500 meters in circumference. It is also home to more than 150 species of birds.
It is a true spectacle of nature and, more than this, it is also a place to relax, forget the stress of the day to day life, and contemplate the local fauna, becoming aware of the importance of harmonious coexistence between humans beings and animals.
Although Buraco das Araras is often included in itineraries through Bonito (Mato Grosso do Sul), this immense dolina is actually in the municipality of Jardim (MS). Only about 70 km separate the attraction from the center of Bonito.
Due to the conservation of Bonito's many natural wonders, there are a limited number of places to access the city's tours.
Knowing this, do not waste time: it is essential to prepare the itinerary of your trip as soon as possible.
The best-known figure in Buraco das Araras is Seu Modesto, who eagerly waits for tourists who want to get to know the place and hear a good story.
Mr. Modesto bought the area in 1986, and although the Buraco das Araras was formed naturally due to the infiltration of water from the region into the fissures of the rock and a subsequent collapse, the farmer likes to joke that his family "dug" the hole little by little, until it resulted in the Dolina that attracts thousands of tourists today.
Once you arrive at the attraction, the visitor's access is made through a not very complicated trail of about 970 meters, passing through two viewpoints from where it is already possible to observe the scarlet macaws and other birds of the place.
From that moment on, all you have to do is prepare your heart and your photos, because the beauties will start to appear and you will not be able to escape so much emotion.
The Buraco das Araras in Bonito (MS) has more than 150 species of birds living harmoniously together, as well as some other animals, such as alligators and anacondas.
In this, which is one of the largest dolines in the world, you will have the opportunity to meet and photograph animals that you would rarely encounter elsewhere in Brazil.
You don't have to go to faraway places like Ivory Coast, South Africa, Antigua and Barbuda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, United Arab Emirates, Federated States of Micronesia, South Korea, or the Isle of Man to see wonderful birds!
The guides recommend that the tour be done preferably between 7 am and 10 am. If you go in the afternoon, it is easier to combine it with other tours, such as Rio da Prata and Lagoa Misteriosa, but there may be more people there.
Buraco das Araras, also known to some as Parque das Araras, is located in the municipality of Jardim, in Mato Grosso do Sul. Although it is not, therefore, a Bonito attraction, the place is often included in itineraries because Jardim is only 70 km from Bonito.
One of Bonito's trails and waterfalls, Estância Mimosa is a true MS treat, with its 9 swimming spots and extra attractions, such as horseback riding through the extensive ranch area.
A tourist attraction not to be missed, with 7 waterfalls, trails, and a lot of adventure for people passionate about ecotourism.
A shelter for Brazilian fauna, where adults and children get to know wild animals and can become aware of environmental care.
In this experience, you can see the beauty of the meeting of the waters of the Sucuri River with the Formoso River. You can also do flotation and observe the underwater life in the region.
This is an attraction very close to the center of Bonito, which provides several activities for children or adults, such as swimming in the Formoso River or getting to know the fish in the place.
The Buraco das Araras is on the Alegria farm, in the municipality of Jardim, in Mato Grosso do Sul.
From the center of Bonito, it is about 50 km to the attraction. If it is necessary to take an alternative route through Guia Lopes, the trip increases to about 100 km.
